Hello there,

I had no idea plush was going to be such a big part of my life, but I guess that’s what happens when you just follow the path that brings you the most delight.

I’m a Valley girl (Van Nuys, baby) and born to Thai and Filipino parents. I picked up sewing after countless hours of watching my dad create gorgeous gowns for clients. But instead of using a threaded needle to create the wedding gown of someone’s dreams, I decided to make plush—the kind that you make memories with.

After 10+ years of designing plush toys for big corporations and running my own plush business (Janie XY), I wanted to spend the next phase of my life getting back to the roots of why I got into this in the first place:

  • Sharing my joy with others

  • Making products in Los Angeles (just like me!)

as well as exploring a couple newer things:

  • Making thoughtful products that connect people

  • Exploring my experience of being a First-Generation American

  • Pushing the boundaries of design and construction of soft sculpture and plush

  • Following whatever bring me delight, no matter what the subject or medium

Thus, STFD (stuff that feeds delight) was born. In this little happy corner of the internet, be exploring all the things that bring me joy and I hope they bring you some too!

Your Questions, Answered

  • My callused fingertips assure you that they are not AI generated images. Every single piece on here was designed and handcrafted by myself. I love playing with materials and textures to create plush versions of things that bring me joy. That could be anything from an object to a memory of mine and it is all a very raw, and very human process.

  • It really depends! Original soft sculptures can take anywhere from 2 hours to 2 weeks. I love to challenge myself to sculpt new ways to translate texture and visual effects through fabrics and textiles.

We do have some items in our shop that have been around since day 1 of my plush journey and those are created in short runs of production where we create anywhere from 2-50 pieces at a time. While we have the techniques down on these items, they are still hand cut, sewn, and stuffed by us and we love every minute of it.

  • My mediums of choice are fabrics, beads, embroidery floss and any other odds and ends I can find help me bring my creations to life in the way that I see the world—a beautiful and mysterious place waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. Recently, I’ve been finding some inspiration in incorporating 3D builds out of other materials like recycled cardboard, but textiles are always my beacon back home.

  • I’m not just creating things I think are fun/funny and especially not chasing trends. This season of my life is more about exploring the moments and memories that made me the person I am today and where I want to go. Lately, I’ve been drawing experience from my first generation American (Thai and Filipino) upbringing and celebrating the diversity that surrounded me in my childhood and continues to surround me in my hometown of Los Angeles.

  • Almost all items in the shops are handmade by myself with the help of my husband. I grew up with both my parents owning small businesses at pretty much every stage of my life, so I understand the importance of uplifting small businesses. If there are any parts of our short run production that go beyond my skillset or abilty, I try my best to uplift the local community and produce things in Los Angeles or domestically.

  • Yes! Some of our items are available on the wholesale platform, Faire. If you have a store that you think our fun products would be a great fit in, we’d love to work with you!
